Whole-class incentive management technique:
The Music Box
At the start of each day, I will simply wind the music box up. If students start to get off-task, are too chatty, aren’t transitioning quickly. I will open the music box and let the music play until the class comes to a quiet voice level.
Hearing the music will serve as a reminder to them to get back on track. When it is noisy, the students will self-correct themselves and their peers. The idea is to keep the music in the box. The Music box is a great way to put positive reinforce into play because there are many ways to keep the attention of the students. Below, I have an example of how creative and fun the music box will look like in the classroom.
